Last two weeks have been amazing again, but I have to say that they were by far the calmest two weeks so far in Barcelona. Well... I was not in Barcelona the entire time. The previous weekend, I went back to Belgium to visit my friends and family for Easter in Sint-Niklaas. I left on Friday morning at 6 AM and I returned on Monday at 11 PM. So you could say that I’ve spend 4 days in my home country.
I was very happy to see my friends and family again! I went out for dinner every night and I did a lot of Easter brunches. I can tell you that I gained some kilo's during this food loving weekend. But don't worry, I don't regret any bite I took.

With my family I visited Sint-Truiden, it's a city in the east side of Belgium. It was my moms' idea to go cycling there. She thought it would be nice to have some time out of the city, since Barcelona is always busy and the fields of Sint-Truiden are so peaceful.
So we rented some bikes and cycled for around 6 hours (with the typical beer stops) and we ended our lovely day in a nice restaurant at the Grand Place of Sint-Truiden!
My mom was right, it was very nice to get out of the city and I really enjoyed biking in the countryside of Belgium! Of course I went to party with my friends as well but luckily, I have no pictures of that 😇.
After another week of working, I decided that it was time for a hiking trip again. I called Velinda and asked her if she was in for another walking tour in a mountain village. She was very happy that I asked because she really wanted to go too and one of her friends joined us. We decided to go to Alella.
Allella is only 30 minutes driving away from the centre of Barcelona and it is a very authentic place to go to in Spain. The village is famous in Catalunya for its winemaking. So that was perfect! Before we went hiking, we visited a vinery where Velinda and me tried the cheapest and most expensive ones (red and rosé) to taste the difference between the two wines. The funny thing was that for the rosé wines, the cheapest was much better than the expensive one.
After two glasses of wine before 1 PM, we went to the start of the hiking trail that the lady from the tourist point had explained to us. One thing, once we arrived there, we figured out that we forgot our hiking map at the table of the vinery. We just started walking up, hoping to see a nice view over the sea, but we were not very lucky. We took the wrong trail and ended up walking on the side of the highway for 15 minutes. It was still a beautiful walk but we expected more from it. Anyway, here are some pictures of the trip.
So when you go to Alella, go for the wine-tasting and the old culture and if you go hiking, don't lose the map 🙃.
