These two weeks have been amazing for me. I’ve met a lot of great people, saw a lot of nice monuments and had luck with my awesome internship. This is what I am going to tell you today, just how lucky I am.

When me and my parents left Sint-Niklaas (my hometown) in Belgium it all seemed so far away. It is just so cool that I can call Barcelona my home for the next 5 months!

So there I went on the plane. I am not scared of flying at all and I love turbulence the most. It always gives me like a small shot of adrenaline. The flight was nice and we were there so fast that I was not even able to finish my movie. By the way, my dad just had surgery on his knee one week before we went to Barcelona, nothing bad, but we needed a lot of space for his leg so we got to sit on the seats at the emergency exit 😊

Being in Barcelona is a little bit scary in a way, this mostly because I am not used to living in a big city like this. In Sint-Niklaas we don't have metro coming every second and streets full of apartment buildings. The thing that comforts me in this very hectic and large city is my room. It is located in Passeig de Sant Joan number 48 on the 7th floor, apartment number 1 room 3. Try and write that on your postcard. Below you can see how my room looked the first day I arrived in the apartment. Obviously it is way more messy now so you won't get a picture of that (maybe my mom will read this). I have everything I need in this room. I have a bed, a big wardrobe, a tv (with Netflix), two desks to work on and a nice balcony.

My fist weekend alone in Barcelona I made a long, slow walk to the beach and back. I took a book that I bought right before coming here and I started reading in it. If you try to keep it calm and if you just enjoy the sun, you will see that Barcelona doesn't feel that big and busy anymore. Especially when you go to the seaside! Everyone who needs a break from the city life can go there by metro or bus and relax. My favourite spot to sit was at the docks where all the boats and yachts are laying. There is a picture in the folder "Pictures" if you'd like to see it. Another nice place was the beach itself. Now it is too cold to sunbath or swim but I figure that this beach is going to be black of people in the summer and I am going to be one of these people! With my working hours from 9h30 until 18h00 it is very difficult to go to the beach after work but in summer (July) the working days are shorter because of the very warm weather.

Last, I am going to talk about my internship at Lifting Group. I've already talked about this in a previous post so I am not going to make it too long. This company really gives you the opportunity to start projects from a scratch and make them your own. The only disadvantage is that I have long working days. The amount of hours is all right, but I have to travel 2 hours and 20 minutes every day to go and come back from work. This makes that I leave my apartment at 7:20 in the morning and I come back home at 19:15 every day. But it is worth it!

Hey Gise, leuke blog! Je verblijf ziet er ook mooi uit. Geniet nog van Barcelona.

Groetjes,

Liselotte
